Parentology ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your and your child's personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect data when you use Parentology at parentology.app.
📋 1. Information We Collect
We collect only what's needed to provide personalised parenting tools:
- Account Information: Name and email address when you sign up.
- Child Health Data: Child's name, date of birth, sex, height, weight, vaccination records, and growth logs you enter.
- Usage Data: Pages visited and features used — to understand what helps parents most.
- Device Information: Browser type, OS, and IP address for security and performance.
💜 We never collect Aadhaar numbers, government IDs, or financial information.
⚙️ 2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Display personalised growth charts, vaccination schedules, and milestone trackers for your child.
- Send health reminders (only if you opt in).
- Improve our tools using anonymised, aggregated usage patterns.
- Respond to support queries and feedback.
- Ensure platform security and prevent misuse.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.
🤝 3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Limited sharing occurs only with:
- Infrastructure Providers: Cloud hosting (Vercel, PostgreSQL) under strict data processing agreements.
- Analytics: Anonymised, aggregated stats only — never individual-level data.
- Legal Obligations: If required by Indian law or a valid court order — we notify you wherever legally permitted.
🇮🇳 All data is processed in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.
👶 4. Children's Privacy
Parentology is designed for parents and guardians, not for direct use by children. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13.
Child health data entered by a parent/guardian is accessible only by that account holder.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without guardian consent, contact us at privacy@parentology.app.
🔐 5. Data Security
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — never stored in plain text.
- Authentication uses signed JWT tokens with 30-day expiry.
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Database access is restricted to authenticated server processes only.
No system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.
🗓️ 6. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. On account deletion:
- All personal data and child health records are permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Anonymised aggregate statistics may be retained for research (no personal identifiers).

⚖️ 7. Your Rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: Ask us to fix inaccurate data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all data.
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time (requires account deletion).
- Grievance Redressal: Lodge a complaint with our Data Protection Officer.

🍪 8. Cookies & Local Storage
We use browser localStorage (not tracking cookies) to store your authentication token. This token:
- Keeps you signed in between sessions.
- Expires automatically after 30 days.
- Is cleared when you sign out.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
🔄 9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our platform grows. For significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify registered users by email for material changes.
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
